About
Agata Szymanek is an emerging Polish artist specialising in large oil paintings, and collage.
Join us at her first solo exhibition in the UK and explore her phantasmagoric dreamscapes
Hypnagogia is the experience of the transitional state from wakefulness to sleep: the hypnagogic state of consciousness, during the onset of sleep. Mental phenomena that occur during this “threshold consciousness” phase include lucid thought, lucid dreaming, hallucinations, and sleep paralysis.
Artist: Agata Szymanek is a young Polish artist born in 1990 and based in Myslowice, Poland. Her unusual works explore the subjects of nature, industrialization, and human interactions with the surrounding world. She plays with shape and colour in a thought provoking, surrealistic manner, leaving the viewer hypnotised and intrigued.
Curator: Magdalena Byczek has recently graduated as an Interior Designer and this autumn will be undertaking the History of Art Certificate course at the University of Oxford. She also took courses at NODE Centre for Curatorial Studies and volunteered at various art galleries as well as art and design events. With this exhibition she is launching her new career path as a freelance curator.
