The use of geometrical pattern, while intuitive, relates specifically to Abrahamic Pythagorean way of seeing numbers & figures as keys to the structure of the cosmos & as symbols of the archetypal world.
About
While recognising the vanity, my work aspires to reveal the unknowable, non objective archetypal realm.
Philosophically my work comes from a deep interest in the metaphysical & cosmological aspects of the geometry of Islamic patterns, knowledge about which I am indebted to the writings & lectures of the English architect & spokesman for the Temenos Society (UK). Keith Critchlow
(In October 1999 Critchlow addressed the Barbara Blackman Temenos Lecture at the Art Gallery of NSW). Critchlow’s interpretation of Islamic art is acknowledged by Islamic scholars as being the first & most comprehensive bridge towards a sympathetic western understanding.
