About
After the fact is Ciarraí MacCormac’s first major solo exhibition, consisting of new paintings created during her Freelands Foundation Studio Fellowship at Belfast School of Art, Ulster University.
MacCormac’s work challenges the boundaries of where a painting practice can situate itself, both physically and conceptually, in order to form a dialogue with the exhibition space, and by extension, the viewer.
She was appointed as our first studio fellow in January 2023, having previously studied at Bath School of Art from where she graduated in 2014.
Funded by the Freelands Foundation in London, this unique studio fellowship comprises six partner institutions, namely: Belfast School of Art; Gray’s School of Art, Aberdeen; Bath School of Art, Film and Media; Brighton School of Art and Media; Manchester School of Art and Swansea College of Art.
