About

An afternoon with the Athens based artist run space 3 137, to launch their new publication After the Explosion you Still Hear the Light.

The book is the result of long-term research on artistic practices and works from the 1970s in Greece and their eclectic affinities with contemporary artistic production. Founders of 3 137 Chrysanthi Koumianaki, Kosmas Nikolaou and Paky Vlassopoulou will present highlights from their research and invite Kostas Stasinopoulos, Associate Curator, Live Programmes at Serpentine Gallery, London to discuss on the contemporary Greek art scene and the importance of self-historicization in this context.

To accompany the presentation, a digitised Super8 film by Greek artist Diohandi will be screened before the conversation. Shot in the 1980s, the film focuses on Greek artists and includes documentation from exhibitions that took place in Europe.

The 3 137 artist run space was founded in 2012 by artists Chrysanthi Koumianaki, Kosmas Nikolaou and Paky Vlassopoulou. Its projects place emphasis on collaboration, hospitality and hybrid forms of being together, through exhibitions, talks, radio programs, screenings, performances and educational workshops.
