Other Criteria launches ‘Exotic Juicy Tutti Frutti' - a series of photographs by Antonio Marguet Thursday 6th September, 6-8pm Other Criteria 14 Hinde Street London W1U 3BG Until 4th October Antonio Marguet explores the concepts behind branding in the realms of social media, through these carefully constructed still life photographs. Questioning our understanding of physical reality, Marguet likens the construction of his ‘object-sculptures' to the fetishistic, virtual realities created online through fictional narratives in social media. Inspired by artificial fragrances and car air fresheners, titles such as Arctic Winter Forest Fresh and Silly Citrus Sunset in the Pacific go further to stimulate the strong multi-sensual appeal of each photograph, acting as metaphors for what Marguet describes as artificial ‘brand enhancers'. A visual artist based in London with a background in Fine Art including two years of specialist training in plastic arts and painting, Marguet brings together a broad range of interdisciplinary skills to create these captivating character portraits.
