The Aesthetica Art Prize Exhibition 2015 is now open, featuring eight leading contemporary artists, selected from over 3,500 submissions from 60 countries worldwide.

About

The exhibition brings acclaimed works and never-seen-before pieces to York from Japan, Germany, Australia and across the UK, showcasing influential artists while championing new talent. The works span photography, painting, installation, sculpture, drawing and film in a celebration of cutting-edge practice in art and design.

A further 92 artists are longlisted, and their work is shown on monitors in the gallery, presenting an opportunity to experience the breadth and diversity of works being produced around the world today.

Further your appreciation of contemporary art and enhance your experience of the Aesthetica Art Prize by joining industry-led talks running alongside the exhibition, which are open to the public and free to attend. All talks begin at 12.30pm at York St Mary's.

Speakers include John Keane, winner of the Aesthetica Art Prize, who will begin the series of talks on 9 April in a discussion about his paintings selected for exhibition as well as his wider practice.

Other speakers include Dr Sam Lackey, Curator at the Hepworth Wakefield; Sarah Perks, Artistic Director (Visual Art) at HOME, Manchester; Whitney Hintz, Independent Advisor and Curator of the Hiscox Collection; and Marcus Lyon, shortlisted artist in this year's Aesthetica Art Prize.
