About
Dissolving beyond the worm moon is a recent, moving image work by artist Bassam Al-Sabah. Enduringly evocative throughout, the narrative builds from a silent, black-screen through to an arc of crescendo that is peppered with alarm. Effectively employing CGI to seamlessly present a richly textured story that traces personal trauma, the effect of TV, the power of imagination, as well as the loaded feelings we have shared in recent months as the spectre of war infiltrated our consciousness and vocabulary.
The accompanying text by Claire Walsh prominently highlights contemporary research into ideas relating to Glitch Feminism and the Anthropocene. Her essay looks not just at Dissolving beyond the worm moon but also serves as an entry point into Al-Sabah’s broader practice.
