Throughout 2009 The Lighthouse presents a series of solo exhibitions profiling five exciting young designers based in Lausanne, Switzerland. All are graduates of the prestigious art and design school, ecal. Uniquely integrating graphics, photography and product development, and with strong links to industry, the school has produced a generation of designers whose work is characterised by the re-interpretation of everyday objects in a way that is refreshing but always functional.
Mapping the field presents new work by industrial designer Adrien Rovero. His work embodies a playful and clever approach, which questions industrial processes and our perception of objects and materials. The impression of materials such as marble, wood and carbon are presented as a contemporary âTromp l'oeil' when applied to the surface of a series of Rovero's objects.
