About

Peter von Kant is pleased to present an exhibition of new works by London-based artists Adrianna Palazzolo and Ella McCartney, which will inaugurate Peter von Kant's new space in Deptford, London. Adrianna Palazzolo (b. 1982 in Canada, lives and works in London) completed her MFA from the Goldsmiths College in 2012. Recent group exhibitions include Pavilion, Open File at Grand Union Gallery Birmingham, Perspectivism at Slakthusateljéernas Stockholm and DNA Gallery Berlin. In her latest video work Adrianna Palazzolo uses footage collected from time spent at a heliport and participating in a night photoshoot at a Royal Air Force base. The footage from each site is estranged from one another, nonetheless the subject of the material on screen is the same. This separation is depicted through texture/format of video, location and context. Ella McCartney (b. 1985 in the UK, lives and works in London) gained a joint BA in History of Art/Fine Art at Goldsmiths College (2008) and a Post Graduate Diploma in Fine Art from the Royal Academy of Arts (2011). Recent and forthcoming shows include Konstepidemin Gothenburg, ICA (London), Peles Empire (London and Cluj) and Chert (Berlin). To different degrees the materials and processes used in Ellas's practice assert physical presence, whilst remaining ephemeral. The materials and objects are at different stages in processes of change: potential, ongoing and completed. The work is fuelled by thinking about the instability of fixed meaning in language.
