About
SFA Advisory, the Tribeca outpost of leading art advisor Lisa Schiff, presents the first dedicated exhibition of sketches and watercolours by British artist Adrian Berg since his passing in 2011. One of the most innovative and ultimately influential landscape painters of his generation, Berg has been underserved and underrecognized by those outside of circles who were variously inspired by or taught by him. Berg dedicated a great deal of his professional life to education – serving as a tutor at leading London art schools, including most notably the Royal College of Art, his own alma mater, where he befriended his peer David Hockney, mentored the likes of Tracey Emin and taught alongside respected colleagues Paul Huxley and Peter Doig. Berg’s exhibition at SFA Advisory centers on perhaps the most liberal and immediate output of his career: the sketches and watercolors he produced en plein air while immersed in the parklands, gardens, and coastlines of England.
