// ABOUT THE SESSIONS…

Adobe Photoshop // Wed 27 June, 7-9pm

Create a digital photo collage, learning about Photoshop workspaces, layers, effects, text and tools along the way.

Adobe Illustrator // Wed 4th July, 7-9pm

Learn how to use Illustrator to bring graphics to life. Use the pen tool, manipulate shapes and use colour & text to create a personal coat of arms.

Adobe Premiere Pro // Wed 11th July, 7-9pm

Learn the basics of Adobe’s video production tool. Learn to place and edit different media and add effects to produce a short personal story.

Adobe InDesign // Wed 18th July, 7-9pm

Create an interactive PDF on the theme of personal histories, exploring layout, colour, typography, effects and publishing.Adobe software subscriptions should be purchased separately if desired, though you can download free trial versions to explore what they have to offer through this course.

// WILL I NEED TO PREPARE OR BRING ANYTHING?

You’ll need to:

– Bring your own laptop.

– Adobe software should be downloaded prior to each session. You can download free trial versions to explore what they have to offer through this course – we’ll send you instructions in good time.

– You’ll need to bring along some personal visual and audio materials on your laptop to use in the sessions – photographs, art works, video, music etc.

Don’t worry, we’ll send full details of all the above in good time ahead of the first session.

// ABOUT ALEX HARWOOD

Alex Harwood is a visual artist and arts educator specialising in and combining both traditional and digital media including; painting, mixed media/collage, graphic design, photography and filmmaking. His personal practice is largely participatory and collaborative in nature, aiming to engage audiences with social, political and universal themes through the art of storytelling.

Now based in South London for over five years, Alex was previously a member of the Islington Mill Arts Academy and Mirabel Studios collectives in Salford and Manchester, exhibiting art works in several group shows. He has also shown works at the Salome Gallery and Lovely Art Gallery in London.

As an arts educator Alex has worked for over ten years in a variety of capacities for numerous charity, public health and education organisations. He also works as an independent tutor, providing one-to-one arts tuition to both academic students and adult learners.

// ABOUT TURF PROJECTS

Founded in 2013, Turf Projects is the first entirely artist-run contemporary art space in Croydon, South London. Established by creatives with a personal connection to the borough, Turf is a registered charity organisation working to support artists, curators and the public through an ambitious programme of free exhibitions, workshops and events. Turf is currently operating out of temporary spaces with a limited lifespan, which we’ll be turfed out of sometime next year due to impending redevelopment here in Croydon. As a result we’re working to build up savings for a (hopefully more permanent) move in the near future.

As a registered charity, all proceeds from courses will go directly back into this savings pot, into paying the artists and makers running the courses, and into providing Turf’s free exhibitions and events, with the main programme remaining completely free as always.
