Windows to other worlds are on offer at the Abstraction at PS45 exhibition in Exeter from 30 November to 13 December. Fifteen local artists, including the renowned abstract expressionist Patrick Jones, will be showing their works in a fascinating display of abstract paintings.
Rather than imitating or representing something, the artists use colour, shape and line to show their inner world and invoke an emotional response in the viewer. This is similar to the way that a piece of music uses pitch, timbre and rhythm to create feelings in the listener.
Patrick Jones says, “I take my response to life and the world around me to make vibrant and colourful abstract paintings. The aim is to make work that will inspire and bring joy and meaning to other people’s lives.”
