Lacey Contemporary Gallery and JGM Art are proud to present ‘Aboriginal Art: Ancient Spiritual Stories’ opening on the 25th November, a new exhibition featuring a diverse range of works from Australia’s contemporary Indigenous artists.

About

Through an exciting presentation of contemporary paintings, sculpture and bark works Aboriginal Art: Ancient Spiritual Stories explores the ancient stories and traditions of this rich and complex culture. The work from these artists, still living in remote communities of Australia, is as contemporary as it is ancient. Through intricate pattern making and potent colour combinations these artists are able not only to depict the traditions of their ancestors, but also reveal the innermost secrets of the Aboriginal culture.

Aboriginal Art: Ancient Spiritual Stories features a diverse range of contemporary art including the rare bark paintings from a group of artists in the Yirrkala region and beautifully carved Mimih Spirit sculptures, often considered as having taught people how to survive in the harsh, remote, Australian landscape.

JGM Art is a London gallery founded by private dealer Jennifer Guerrini-Maraldi. She exhibits and sells contemporary Aboriginal paintings and sculptures collected each year during her travels into the most remote areas of Australia. Jennifer is a leading expert in Australian contemporary art offering paintings and sculpture by artists from the world’s oldest cultural traditions. Lacey Contemporary Gallery, Holland Park's most innovative young gallery, is excited to once again be collaborating with JGM to exhibit the works of dynamic contemporary artists from one of the world's emerging markets.
