Future Perfect is proud to announce the first exhibition in Asia by Perth-based multidisciplinary artist Abdul Abdullah. ‘I See A Darkness’ features a selection of Abdullah’s photographs, which reflect the complex identities and histories of minority groups in a multicultural society.

Abdullah’s work is a rumination on his complicated heritage as a seventh generation Muslim in Western Australia. He taps the anxieties shared by many marginalised groups living in Western societies – especially those of young Muslims – in the face of enduring prejudice, ethnic profiling and volatile projections of otherness in the public culture. These arresting portraits tell “the story of a generation under fire”, challenging misguided stereotypes with imagination, ambiguity and subtlety.
