About

The Riverside Café Gallery is delighted to welcome photographers Lawrie Brailey and Alannah Hawker with their exhibition ‘A Wild Life’, celebrating the magnificence of our British wildlife.

When most people think of wildlife photography, they think of African migrations, tigers in India or polar bears in Svalbard. Not much thought is usually given to British wildlife, meaning its diversity and beauty is often overlooked.

With our wildlife having so much to offer the world but many species being in decline and vying for space in our growing urban landscapes, Lawrie and Alannah use their work to try to showcase the variety of fascinating creatures that the UK countryside offers and how so much of our wildlife has learnt to co-exist with us.

Whilst both Lawrie and Alannah have travelled throughout the United Kingdom to capture the best of British wildlife, they try to keep their work as local as possible. Many of the locations they have used are easily recognisable and showcase the diversity of our wildlife, emphasising the importance of preserving our natural habitats.
