About

'A TRANSFORMATIVE MOMENT’ by Doron Beuns @doronbeunsstudio

Curated by Miles Tuddenham @milestuddenham

'A Transformative Movement' explores the manic hysteria of artistic processes in an age of hyper-mechanical, digital and artificial production. The pieces reflect the various disorderly stages of an artwork’s development. Beuns flicks through a catalogue of quasi-dichotomies: sex and decay; productivity and waste; eerie and blissful; artificial mechanisms and fleshy gore; compulsion and liberation; reproducibility and singularity. He restlessly flips between mediums and themes under a compulsion for persistent change. Together, Beuns’ work forms a fever dream of commanding delirium; in equal parts a polemic and ode to the pathetic human condition.

The placement of said works happens in situ within Usual Business, in close dialogue with gallery founder, exhibition curator, and long-term collaborator with Beuns; Miles Tuddenham @milestuddenham, supported greatly through literary efforts by Harry Ghose Coveney @harrykumar__

Doron Beuns (1994) is a Dutch artist of Moroccan-Jewish descent who works across a wide range of mediums: sculpture, installation, textiles, print techniques, collage, video, and performance. Beuns received his MFA at Norwich University of the Arts in 2018. Ever since, he has continued to create and exhibit works that play with the absurdity and hysteria of the present world. He currently works and lives in Amsterdam, where he also designs cannabis based products for Plant Based Gallery and consults in various other creative industries.
