About

Following a successful year that has seen Expanded Eye showcase theirà‚ multi-disciplinaryà‚ artwork in London, Lausanne and Madrid, as well as receivingà‚ an avante-garde award for their revolutionary approach to tattoo art,à‚ October 2013 heralds the free-thinking duo's debut solo exhibitionà‚ at Hoxton Arches, London. Entitledà‚ ‘Aà‚ Thousand Fibres',à‚ the pairà‚ showcase theirà‚ fascination with life through the ancient art of storytelling. By fusing this primitiveà‚ tradition with their unique contemporary approach,à‚ their new works are an embodiment of theà‚ trademark abstract and poeticà‚ language used to portray the visual narratives behind adorned vessels. Stories told on skin now immortalised as pieces of art. Running from 24th- 29th October 2013,à‚ the exhibition sees journeys, passions and philosophiesà‚ come to life using salvaged wood, doors, books and steel to create surreal geometric sculptural pieces, showcasing the duos ability to blur the boundaries between their disciplines. Using antique items the pair evoke nostalgia from memories and moments passed. Portraying emotions, discoveries and self-realisation through the use ofà‚ novelsà‚ handed down through generations, the secrets behind closed doors and theà‚ resonance of such historical items. A Thousand Fibresà‚ invites the viewer to relate to the artworks through the power of the human storyà‚ andà‚ a chance to connect with the poetic work of Expanded Eye, who are set to become one of the most exciting art duos the world has seen.à‚  The private view will take place on the 24th October 2013, from 7pm onwards. Curated by Alexandra Fernandez Diaz of Conquering Rooftops and with performances from Perhaps Contraption.
