About
"My drawings are an exploration of the relationships primarily between colours and free-hand forms, resulting in playful colourful abstractions, sometimes reminiscent of still lifes, landscapes or objects in strange, animated scenes; mutated and saturated to an almost alien aesthetic. My best drawings are made when I don't have a plan for the image. I will make a mark and react with a series of instinctive responses, letting the image grow organically on the page. When I draw I try to think less about what 'should' be drawn and let my inhibitions and pre-judgments fall away, making way for an authentic and consistent thought process, letting the colours and shapes speak for themselves, allowing the drawing to simply be what it is."
Ruby Lindsey studied Fine Art at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art and Design: University of Dundee, Purchase College: New York, and Camberwell College of Arts.
