'A relentless march of energy: Expressionism'

About

Exhibition runs from 25th October till 19th November This exhibition will represent artists throughout the UK who epitomise expressionism through their use of paint in the sense of capturing energetic movements, thickly applying paint, rough brush strokes all that demonstrate an understanding of the movement of expressionism. The selected Artists work will have been inspired by several key Artists, including Van Gogh, Bomberg, Baselitz, Auerbach, Golub, Kossoff, Freud and Bacon. This exhibition will delve into the Artists Psyche through cross-examining their practice against more established artists. There will be a catalogue for this exhibition that will include the essay written by Lloyd Gill. The catalogue will be available to purchase at the gallery for £2. Funds received will go towards gallery running costs. The essay 'A relentless march of energy: Expressionism' available to download here. The essay examines the history of expressionism through such artists as Frank Auerbach and others.
