A Site Responsive Exhibition about War,Conflict and Its Consequences

About

Set in the atmospheric Crypt Gallery on Euston Road, A Raid On The Inarticulate is a contemplation of war and its consequences, timed to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Armistice Day. Anna Brownsted, Susie Johnson,  Idit Elia Nathan, Nir Olon, Caroline Wendling, Sarah Wood and Rachel Wooller present site responsive work, exploring the influential shadows of war and conflict. Drawing on the capacity of art to snatch meaning from the chaos of human existence, this exhibition aims to articulate something of what war means for our generation, from the echoes of WW1 to more recent international conflicts in Vietnam, Sarajevo and Israel Palestine..

Babel is a performance in many languages with speakers reading peace poems in their mother tongue. Together the many tongues and voices create a soundscape for peace, personal to each member of the audience as they walk from one reader to the next, trying to make sense of the words.

On Sunday 11th November, novelist Ali Smith will be reading from Caroline Blackwood’s On The Perimeter 11:30-5pm
