A juried show in response to an 'open call' exploring the diversity of drawing. Plus photographs from Chris Rees and the annual SixByFour fundraiser.

About

The current show at Oriel Q is well under-way. From an ‘open call’ 50 pieces have been submitted. Ranging from the more traditional, such as still life studies, portraits and hyper-realism, to the more experimental with abstract mark-making and contemporary media including film.

Styles and content vary, but the work on show proves that drawing is still an important vehicle for expression, and in most cases, an essential element in contemporary artistic practice. The Prizes, totalling £450, will be announced shortly so please see the gallery’s social media for up-to-date news.

On the stairs, Chris Rees presents photography about the great and good of this little corner of Wales. Whilst, Oriel Fach, is the location for 6x4 – anonymous postcard size artwork sale – to raise funds for Sir Thomas Picton School Art Department and Oriel Q.
