An installation mixing print and objects, exploring a series of social and socialised themes that are ever more important in our everyday lives - ideas of escapism, energy consumption, our environment and climate change.

About

Featuring various organic and mechanical components, two sculptures are displayed in front of a large format colour print of a tropical beach scene. The found image represents an idyllic location of escapism often seen in travel guides, advertising and desktop screensavers, a distant place we often long to be. However here that idealism is somewhat undermined by manipulation. Reminiscent of hot temperatures, ocean breezes and cooling dips in the sea, the image provides a scenic backdrop and a setting for the other works in the manner of a shop window display, albeit one presenting the thermal entanglement of escapism and desire with resource consumption and implication.
