A Movement and Awareness Workshop
Time: 10am - 2 pm
Conductor: Diya Naidu
Payment: Rs. 1000/-
About The Conductor: Diya is an independent movement artist based in India. Her primary practices have been movement centred - Contemporary Dance, Kalaripayattu, Partner work, massage, Yoga, Kathak, and Jazz Ballet among others. These interact with her animist practice, research on touch and intimacy, and her love for writing, to name a few areas of interest. Her muse is the people around her and the spaces between us. With intense connection and vulnerability comes intense fear, nakedness, and resistance. Through experiential learning, it has come to her that everything that happens around oneself is also taking place within. While this can be terrifying, it also is empowering. As an artist, in this very moment, she sees her function as that of the one listening and witnessing. To listen to what is needed is work, a labour that she is committed to doing and inviting others to join in. About The Programme: Using movement and writing to archive and deeply sense self. ● The workshop will invite participants to open up spaces within themselves and witness those findings with attention and safety. ● We will open and enter these embodied spaces through movement and awareness ● We will connect with the four elements that make us, in a simple ritual. Through this, we will delve into and locate the transitory and deep self. ● The words that emerge will be constantly put down and perhaps shared to archive for ourselves where in this intangible territory we are located and what is on offer. ● Witnessing and sharing will be another way in which we honor the voice of the flesh that speaks to us and within us at this time.
