A solo show by Ellen Angus
About
We are delighted to introduce our April Solo show & selected artist for the Parent/Care-Giver open call :
Ellen Angus presenting ‘A Lost Siren’s Call’
“Six months after the birth of my first child, I am emerging from the delirium of sleep deprivation—wild-eyed at 4 a.m., grasping at the sticky edges of something vast and obscure. My work unfolds at the intersection of queer ecology, feminist sci-fi, and the creeping sense that we are teetering on the brink of ecological collapse. I explore myth-making as an act of ecological resistance, drawing from the speculative legacies of Ursula K. Le Guin and Octavia Butler. I find myself submerged in the symbolism of water serpents—fluid, ancient, leaky and untamed—watching their transformation into the hyper-commercialised mermaid of the 21st century. My work lingers in the murky space between myth, commodification and utter ruin. Mothers ruin. “
We look forward to welcoming you to the private view : 6-8pm April 18th
