“A Kim Deal Party” is a media video-audio production that centers the experience of disabled/Deaf pleasure and access. It is an aesthetic experience showing disabled and non disabled people celebrating life, partying together in various ways— celebrating life and their bodies.
About
A Kim Deal Party was first performed in the comments of a Facebook post on 17 August 2020. The original cast can be found there. Cyborg Jillian Weise then asked Eileen Myles, Patricia Lockwood, Jaipreet Virdi, Karolyn Gehrig, Rachel Eliza Griffiths, Liz Jackson, Alex Haagaard, Canese Jarboe, Mistress Snow and many more people to “crash” A Kim Deal Party. So some people’s lines turned into other people’s lines. She asked cast members for the set: “Send me pics of you at past parties or pics of objects in your home.” Thus the set was built.

Dear you & you & you & you & you. This video play is for us cyborgs & disabled people. We are THE IDEAL AUDIENCE. Video play centers—instead of that tawdry word “provides”—access. So there will be captions & image descriptions created by a disabled person & ASL interpretation by a Deaf person. No CART because video is prerecorded. No audio descriptions because that conflicts with my access needs as an artist. Instead, image descriptions in screen reader friendly document. Video play will embed at Public Space One at 6:30PM CST September 19 and again at 6:30am CST September 20 -- and be available afterward to disabled people only.
