‘A journey away from urban life’- a series of prints, paintings, photographs and moving image produced by artists from Mainland China, Macau and Hong Kong.
About
We focus on the loneliness and isolation of people living in a fast-moving society. Industrialisation has introduced boredom to their work. And their so-called social life is mostly based on social media. No one is being attentive to anyone else’s life. What they call leisure time is really a group of people gathering at the table and eyes on the screens in their hands - Alone Together. And thus we offer a way to escape, to escape from the shackles of technology.
Across a week in the heart of East London, the exhibition brings together diverse artists from Asia. At 5th Base Gallery on 23 Heneage Street visitors will be able to explore unusual expressions on these themes through a variety of artforms by six contemporary artists. Yao Ding Ding, Zhiwen Tang, Sun Yi Ming, Eva Mok, Shum Kwok Hei, Jia Quek and Cao Di curated by Ho Sin I, Ploypairin Chaimano, Xueyan Ouyang and Qin Tian from China, Macau and Thailand respectively. This unique insight by new artists and curators provides an exciting journey away from urban life.
