Local artist Sevcan Yuksel Henshall exhibits her ink and acrylic drawings celebrating Newroz, the Kurdish new year, and the traditional tale of Kawa.

About

Newroz is celebrated on March 21st and symbolises the passing of the dark season, winter, and the arrival of spring, the season of light.
Ancient Kurds who followed Zoroastrianism saw the sun and fire as symbols of light, goodness and purification.

Though celebrations vary, people generally gather together outdoors, hike up mountains, light fires, wear coloured clothes, sing and dance together to welcome the coming of spring.
