About
While globally acclaimed artists from China still attempt to recycle, document, and transform the visual language of the past, the works of a new generation reveal the degree to which young expats have expanded and elaborated the language of Chinese contemporay art today. A for Ad-eo enlivens its etymology from Latin ad (“to, towards”) and eō (“there; so much”) in the bilingual space of selected artworks, which thereby mobilize the affective fluidity of cultural identity thus towards an alternative youth culture in emerging expat art that undercuts social stereotyping and cultural dogma of division.
