A Floresta da Mente is a project about the foundations of ancient times, a poem to craftsmanship, and a conversation between current concerns and ancient elements. The five pieces hanging on the walls of Galeria Almedina interact with the imposingness of the space, with humbleness and self-awareness, sharing the room with the wall of the Almedina Tower. The juxtaposition of these elements creates a dialogue between medieval and modern creations, which is the common thread that guides the public throughout the whole exhibition. Gís Marí, author of these five creations, is a Dutch-born artist based in Figueira da Foz, who has been working in Portugal for the last decade. His oil paintings, filled with powerful colours and stunning brushstrokes, create a three-dimensional universe filled with textures and imagery that is always up to the spectator to discover and analyze.
