An exhibition of landscape and abstract paintings by Sandy Densem
About
A Decade of Creative Exploration includes landscapes painted in situ in beautiful sun-dried wheat fields of Shropshire, autumn Tuscan views from a recent trip to Italy, as well as mixed media works that explore abstract concepts.
Sandy was born and grew up in Zimbabwe, and studied Fine Art in Cape Town in the mid 1970’s.
Since graduating, Sandy has been teaching art at school and adult level, and has exhibited regularly in Southern Africa, New Zealand and UK, having had her first solo exhibition in this country, in 2003, in Cirencester.
Sandy moved permanently to Shropshire in 2013 and during this time her work has seen enormous change, as she transitioned from oil painting to acrylics.
“Painting in acrylics has been a huge challenge for me as it is totally unlike working in oils which I’ve been doing for so many years. The reason for the change was partly due to the drying time in this climate, and partly because water based paints allow for more experimentation, and my work has become more mixed media and layered as a result.”
This will be an exciting exhibition with something for everyone.
