Arts House Limited (AHL) proudly presents A Date with Tradition 2024 at Stamford Arts Centre (SAC), held in conjunction with the Singapore Night Festival. Join us for its third edition over three weekends — 23–24 August, 30–31 August and 6–7 September — for an electrifying array of programmes that showcase the beauty and richness of our traditional arts, foster social bonding, and enhance multicultural understanding. From engaging workshops and performances to a community mural painting and other drop-in activities, discover a wide array of fun experiences waiting for you!
Music lovers can feel the rhythm with the syncretic sounds of Open Score Project in Palindrome as they premiere an original piece celebrating Singapore’s rich cultural tapestry. Additionally, visitors to SAC can be enthralled by the traditional Indian dance form Kathakali in Bhaskar’s Arts Academy’s production of Cherita Singapura and P7:1SMA who will present Joget Putu Piring, a traditional Joget dance performance inspired by the intricate process of kneading, steaming and serving of our beloved local kueh delicacy, putu piring. Another performance to look out for is a showcase of different genres of traditional Chinese opera, Fledgelings Take Flight, presented by Traditional Arts Centre’s Young People’s Opera Theatre. Discover the intricate artistry of Minhwa Painting guided by experts from the Singapore Association of Minhwa Art, among many other exciting multicultural experiences.
Don't miss this exhilarating celebration of tradition and fun! We encourage you to explore the festival grounds, discovering new aspects of traditional arts and multicultural experiences.
