Maggi Hambling's self-portrait includes seventeen âill-assorted objects', and a teapot is one of the most prominent. Carmen Mangion, Honorary Research Fellow at Birkbeck, University of London, explores how drinking tea took centre stage in British culture, and why the teapot is such a valuable possession for so many of us.
