A multi-lingual production of a brand new performance piece, featuring a custom video & light installation by German artists Hartung & Trenz that will transform the atmospheric underground spaces of The Vaults.
About
Irena has left home thousands of miles behind in search of a different future; but voices from the past keep echoing in the present.
a colder water than here follows Irena who has fled her home in a distant war ravaged country to find a better future, but finds herself working on a strawberry farm. Here she meets Sam who longs for a different future, but both of them are continually haunted by memories of the past. An exciting, formally challenging, piece of theatre in response to the refugee crisis that explores ideas of history, memory and home in a multilingual production.
Featuring a brand new video and light installation by German artists Hartung & Trenz (www.hartung-trenz.de) that will transform the atmospheric tunnels of The Vaults underneath Waterloo station, a colder water than here is an international collaboration with the playwright Matt Jones and director Lily McLeish, a colder water than here promises to be one of the highlights of VAULT 2017.
