About

A CERTAIN KIND OF LIGHT

A CERTAIN KIND OF LIGHT is a collection of work in which Kleiner Shames is extending his practice of experimentation with form and colour, using shapes that have been developed over 15 years of painting. Driven by process, the artworks are developed by trusting instinct instead of planning.

By experimenting with various finishes and creating a satisfying sense of depth in two-dimensional pieces, thepainting, sculpture and assemblage works can transform depending on the light source.

Kleiner Shames is a contemporary British artist, currently residing in Penzance as resident artist at the PZ Gallery. He is inspired by the pure aesthetic aspects of artwork and strives to find unconventional balance in his abstract pieces.

Kleiner Shames often works at an extremely large scale on external commissions with his most recent local commission ‘Dazzle Ferry’ which can be seen in Falmouth harbour, where the St Mawes Ferry known as the May Queen was completely painted to commemorate 75 years since the D-Day landing.
