All entires to the 8 Words for Barrow-in-Furness Competition have been created as digital artwork, capturing the voices of local people in a virtual conversation about their place.
Vote for your winner of The People's Choice Award, from all entires to the 8 Words for Barrow-in-Furness Competition.
The competition was inspired by the appearance of 8 blue billboards at Hollywood Park Roundabout in Barrow-in-Furness, Cumbria, during lockdown. All advertisements ceased and the billboards were papered with an aspirational sky blue colour. With the roundabout empty of traffic, anything seemed possible.
In the absence of advertising we invited locals to propose 8 words which could fill the billboards with their own words and thoughts, with the aim of activating and capturing the voices of local people during this ‘unprecedented’ time.
Nearly 180 entires have been created as digital artwork, to accompany the socially distanced outdoor 8 Words for Barrow-in-Furness Exhibition which distlays 20 winning entires. You can view all the '8 Words' on our Facebook page, and vote for your winner of The People's Choice Award by 'liking' your favourites.
