Kunstwerkberlin is proud to present its exhibition number #8 by MÁTYÁS VARGA.

Art can be political and an effective weapon against nuisance: This is well demonstrated by Varga´s Cherchez La Left Hand.

Additionally there will be shown new contemporary art works of landscapes painted on aluminium plates, which are deeply inspired by the techniques of Gerhard Richter as well as new sculptures of bronze by Mátyás Varga.

Once Pablo Picasso was asked by a german soldier if he was the one, who painted “Guernica“. His answer: “YOU painted this picture, not me!” What Picasso wanted to say is, that the existence of this work of art as a political icon was originated only through the atrocities of the germans during the Second World War! Varga, similar to Pablo Picasso, wants his new artwork Cherchez La Left Hand to be interpreted in this way: art can be political and an effective weapon against nuisance. The topic? Pedophilia. And it is always the society who delivers the idea for the picture...

Kunstwerkberlin freut sich auf seine 8. Ausstellung mit Werken von Mátyás Varga.

Kunst kann politisch und kulturell eine Waffe gegen Missstände sein. Dies zeigt das Werk Cherchez La Linke Handdes Künstlers.

Es werden außerdem zeitgenössische Landschaftsbilder auf Aluminium vorgestellt, welche in der Maltechnik stark durch Gerhard Richter inspiriert sind, sowie Bronzefiguren aus den jüngsten Schaffensprozessen Vargas.

Pablo Picassos Antwort auf die Frage eines deutschen Soldaten, ob er Guernica gemalt hätte: „SIE haben dieses Bild gemalt, nicht ich!“ – Picassos Aussage: Erst durch die Gräueltaten der deutschen Soldaten im Zweiten Weltkrieg konnte es zu diesem Kunstwerk und späteren Ikone der politischen Kunst kommen! An diese Vorstellung – nämlich dass Kunst politisch und eine kulturelle Waffe gegen Missstände sein kann – knüpft Varga mit seinem neuesten Werk Cherchez La Linke Hand an. Sein Sujet: Pädophilie. Vorlage für den Künstler ist die Gesellschaft selbst…
