41Drawings Workshop @ Helsinki Design Museum 25/06/2024 5.30pm till 7.30pm Each person is given a small A6 sketchbook and a stick of graphite. The objective of the workshop is to walk through the free exhibitions at the Helsinki Design Museum and each make 41 drawings in 2 hours. We will be visiting the ‘FIX: Care and Repair’ exhibition: https://www.designmuseum.fi/en/exhibitions/fix-care-and-repair/ "The joint exhibition FIX: Care and Repair at the Museum of Finnish Architecture and the Design Museum focuses on repair and maintenance while also exploring how the passage of time affects architecture and design. Objects and buildings undergo constant change. They age, get dirty, and break. Maintaining and repairing things are active practices that reflect our prevailing values. What objects and things do we invest time and money in caring for? What is left outside the scope of care? Designer Lauri Johansson’s exhibition architecture, complete with plasterboard, also alludes to an ongoing renovation. It serves as a reminder that our shared world is never finished but constantly requires maintenance. Visitors are invited to contemplate questions of repair, cleaning, and upkeep, and to participate in events woven around the exhibition.'" There will be lots of objects/artworks and starting points for conversation and inspiration to make some drawings. All abilities welcome and this workshop is free to access. You usually need to pay for a ticket to enter the Helsinki Design Museum, but on 25/06/2024 (the day of the workshop) the museum is open all day for free. Love that. This specific session is hosted by Nima @nima.shafiani who works as an artist in today's London. We will meet as a group at the main entrance of the Helsinki Design Museum at 5.15pm and the session starts at 5.30pm sharp.
