In this solo exhibition by the Deptford based painter Jonathan Purday, the artist returns to painting quaint houses & scenes one might find in traditional post-impressionist oil paintings. On closer inspection these scenes are not set in the Home Counties or various rural locations, they are in fact from areas of South-east London. Houses that seem at odds with their surroundings, strangely homely cottages & eary abandoned houses create stories of family life, abandonment set in the chintzy surroundings of the home. On his travels in the South-East Purday has been struck by these pockets of rural life and has captures them in his own unique style of painting.
