Alison Jacques Gallery will be hosting the discussion 39 Years On: Michelle Stuart in Conversation with Sarah Kent on 6 June 2018 to coincide with our forthcoming solo show Michelle Stuart: The Nature of Time (1 June - 28 July 2018).
In 1979, Sarah Kent curated the exhibition Paper Works at the Institute of Contemporary Arts. Nearly four decades later, Kent and Stuart will be in conversation to shed light on the trajectory of Stuart's versatile career since the 1970s.
Michelle Stuart is known as a pioneer of non-traditional, often organic materials, including earth, seeds, ash, feathers and fossils; works about transformation which collapse memory, time and place. The artist's practice addresses the metaphysical while remaining profoundly rooted in its own materiality.
The talk is free but spaces are limited, please RSVP to rsvp@alisonjacquesgallery.com.
Please be aware that the talk will start promptly at 6.30pm - late arrivals will not be admitted.
