About

The Opening takes place on Friday, 15 January 2021 from 18:00-22:00 at Bricks & Mortar (Voigtstraße 42, 10247 Berlin) in Friedrichshain. The exhibition will be open from 15-31 January, as well as by appointment if you'd like a meeting with the artist.

Not much needs to be said about why 2020 was one of the most eventful years in the recent past. Kobe Bryant's death seemed to hit many people hard as their optimism for a new year shattered when the beloved celebrity who promoted hard work and dedication died in a helicopter crash. Before we knew it we were in a worldwide pandemic taking comfort in the dumpster fire that was the Tiger King show on netflix, doing quizes and had the word "zoom" redefined. Livelihoods were stripped away from many of us whilst we marvelled in the varied degrees of seriousness our neighbours and leaders responded to the virus. People tried to nip it in the bud by being as productive as ever at home. But after the motivation for self-help tasks, new found creative and fitness projects faded, emotions were primed for outrage and racial injustices in the US took over all social media. The impending US election brought on many lowlights throughout the year and the world watched and took some solace in Biden's quip "will you shut up man" at the first presidential debate.

But it was not all doom and gloom. Many relationships were physically and emotionally brought together, sometimes literally by the necessitations of quarantine but also by the need to connect and appreciate the relationships we have. Now more than ever we realised the importance of living in the present, appreciating what we have and we all stood proud in adoration for the selfless efforts of font-line workers around the globe.

So please join us on 5 November. There will be a raffle to win one of the pieces. Each painting will have corresponding audio so if you would like to hear that please bring a smart phone and earphones. Please maintain physical distancing and enjoy some art in a safe environment.
