About
In 1967, with ›Serielle Formationen‹ [Serial Formations], Paul Maenz and Peter Roehr curated the first exhibition on Minimalist trends in Germany, in the Studio Galerie of the Goethe University Frankfurt a. Main. 50 years later, the current exhibition at the Daimler Contemporary attempts to re-stage what in retrospect was a historic presentation of the 1960s. The tour presents the concept of the curators in 1967 (Maenz/Roehr) as well as the points of focus selected by Renate Wiehager, the curator of the current exhibition: starting with the Frankfurt circle of artists around Roehr/Posenenske/Bayrle, moving on to Op Art, Pop Art and Nouveau Réalisme as well as aspects of Minimal/Conceptual Art and concluding with individual artistic approaches and thematically related works from the Daimler Art Collection.
