An exhibition by emerging artists on the Masters in Fine Art at UAL Wimbledon College of Art
About
On 5 October 2016, a group of strangers met for the first time. At that point, all they knew about each other’s work was one image and a one minute presentation. They came to throw their existing art practice up in the air and they surely got what they came for….
Eight months later they are strangers no more and comfort zones are no longer comfortable. What better way to celebrate than to have an interim show together in Platform 272. Building on their previous work looking at the idea of life lived and worked in a small space, this time the artists are permitted works a maximum of 1m by 1m as Platform 272 is just 17m2.
Representing many of the concerns that are key today for both artists and non-artists alike, from the personal to the global, from the purely abstract to the daily detail, the works are realised in video, wood, paint, drawing, print, photography, and mixed media and show the journey that has been made in the last eight months. With another twelve months to the degree show, this is a great opportunity to get to know these artists and follow their development as they challenge themselves to push their practices further.
