Who will be exhibiting at 15. OpenAirGallery is decided by an independent jury that chooses from hundreds of applications. Initial selection criteria consider artisanal quality, innovation as well as originality, all of which allow for the gallery’s artistic diversity.
The self-conception of the OpenAirGallery as a place of encounter and exchange finds further expression in this year’s extension to the concept: Starting with the temporary gallery’s 15th anniversary, one stall of each new edition on Oberbaumbrücke will be assigned at the exhibition’s invitation. This stall shall provide space to present artistic interventions and activity by independent art collectives and societies from Berlin. Starting off on Sunday, 04 June will be the silkscreen print collective of Vetomat, which has been operating independent cultural spaces in the neighbourhood for more than 10 years now. This initiative shall focalise the significance of such often underrepresented agents from the independent scene for the awareness of a broader public.
Participating artists represent street as well as pop art, abstract as well as figurative painting, highly diverse paper work such as collage or drawing as well as equally varied printing techniques, modern object art as well as classic sculpture. As always, it is crucial for the selection of works that only unica and limited editions shall be displayed.
Entrance is free for all visitors.
