10 - Journey of Experience is a reflection of a group of 10 artists, banding together to showcase their work under one roof.
Each artist puts forward a very different proposition and focal point, expressing their own individuality, but although a clear diversity is evident, there is also a unifying theme, a commonality: every artist makes things as a response to the world around them.
About
Exhibiting artists; Sharon Withers, Frances Jordan, Marion Deacon, Henriette Van Der Does, Shauna Stanton, Di Pollock, Adam Aaronson, Andre Curtis, Carol Orwin & David Dragon.
Each artist puts forward a very different proposition and focal point, expressing their own individuality, but although a clear diversity is evident, there is also a unifying theme, a commonality: every artist makes things as a response to the world around them.
On the surface this may seem obvious, but they felt this collectivising thread sets them apart. It provides a platform of separate ideas coalesced into a singular ideal.
This is art that exists, art to look at, and art to respond to; to mould, to paint, to draw, to experience.
All 10 exhibitors consider themselves contemporary artists, engaging and reacting to the modern world and most importantly, celebrating it. 10 - Journey of Experience, at the Menier Gallery, is a reflection of this positivity.
Just as the individuals in the group looked at the world and how they were inspired by it, they now invite you to respond as they did: to visit and experience, a journey.
