A JOINT SHOW BY NOTTINGHAM ARTISTS ROBERT MORRIS & TOM ORDOYNO
About
Both sets of work con ate memory and present day reality. Pulling apart the notion of time as a linear progression to merge the past with the present. 0115 is an area code. One used to dial back into Nottingham. Acknowledging the artists birthplace, and estranged relationship with the area responsible for so much of their work, whilst also serving to underpin the nature something which is both current and outdated.
Morris captures human gestures that often go unseen. Fleeting moments that have no record in time nd a place in his work. Candidly observing domesticity to nd beauty in the banal, Morris examines the discarded vernacular of British society.
Ordoyno has an allegorical approach to landscapes. Atomizing place and memory through the arbitrary detail and everyday geometries of sites from his childhood. Each scene unknowingly recognizable, imbued with the peculiar familiarity of a forgotten place that once meant so much.
