"Água viva" is the title of Rita Gaspar Vieira's first solo exhibition at Salgadeiras Arte Contemporânea which opens on June 6, Thursday, from 6 pm until 9 pm.

If memory concerns a past, to what extent can it aspire to originality and authenticity? This problematization opens a pathway to the drawings and objects of Rita Gaspar Vieira. It is not the artist who draws or models what does not appear as a lasting place of complicities and testimonies of what longs to survive only in the fictions of history and reason. Always unsettling and reconfiguring the reflection on memory, in "Água Viva," the artist shows us that it is memory, as a medium of transferring and re-founding, as a path of affectionate approximation to the symptoms of uses, knowledge, and relationships, that recreates the past and turns the drawings and objects into a singular presence, without an unattainable aura or occluded echo, where time is alive and livable. — Text by Ricardo Escarduça at exhibition text.
