Artangel Open 2025

Artangel Open is an open call for new ideas. Over the past two decades, Artangel has invited artists to share ambitious ideas through a number of open calls. The resulting commissions have been ground-breaking with works in performance, film, installation, audio and digital mediums being presented in unexpected places in the UK including under a mountain in Scotland and a quarried island off the Dorset coast, to name a few.

The Open returns in 2025 and invites artists based anywhere in the world to submit their most daring idea. Your idea could manifest in the UK, internationally or online.

Eligibility: Artists operating anywhere in the world

What you get: Shortlisted artists will be contacted in July 2025 to arrange an interview for September 2025. Each shortlisted idea / artist will receive a fee to work up their proposal in time for the interview with the panel in September.⁠ Following the interviews, the Artangel team will further explore the feasibility of the shortlisted ideas and an announcement will be made in January 2026 confirming the forthcoming commission(s).
