The Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award returns to the National Portrait Gallery for 2025. Entries are now open for the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2025. The prestigious painting competition celebrates the very best in contemporary portraiture and is open to all artists from around the world. Enter now for the chance to have your work on display in the National Portrait Gallery and win the top prize of £35,000. Supported by Herbert Smith Freehills.
Eligibility: The competition is open to all artists from around the world. Artists must be aged 18 years or over as of 1 January 2024.
What you get: Shortlisted works will form part of the Herbert Smith Freehills Portrait Award 2025 exhibition and will be displayed at the National Portrait Gallery from 10 July to 12 October 2025.
The opportunity to be considered for one of the Awards, including the first prize of £35,000.
All artists chosen to exhibit in 2025’s Portrait Award exhibition will be considered for the inaugural Herbert Smith Freehills Artist Commission, which has a value of £14,000.
