Telling Our Stories, Finding Our Roots: Commission Opportunity for Devon-based Artist

Updated: 10 July 2024

An exciting opportunity for a Devon-based, global majority artist to work with Devon Development Education on their Telling Our Stories, Finding Our Roots multicultural heritage project. We’re seeking a dynamic artist to work with our project coordinator and partners at Offwell School, Honiton Library, and the Thelma Hulbert Gallery. The artist’s role is to creatively engage young people through workshop activities, inspired by our project stories to create an art piece that will be included in the final project exhibition at the end of the year.

Eligibility: You must identify as having a global majority heritage, and live in Devon. You must have experience working with young people aged 4 – 12 years, and have an enhanced DBS and barred list check to work with children.

What you get: This is a legacy project that works to engage the Honiton community with its multicultural heritage past and present. Having successfully secured funding over the last 12 years to run 6 projects like this one across Devon, interest in the project stories continues to grow through its website, social media, printed publicity, and exhibitions. The artist will ‘be a part of the story for a more inclusive future’ working closely with all our project partners. This opportunity is funded by the Creative East Devon Fund through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund.

Deadline 09 August 2024
