Springtide Residency for neurodivergent women, Cumbria, UK

Updated: 03 January 2023

Mainspring Arts has teamed up with BarrowFull to present SpringTide, an exciting artistic residency for young neurodivergent women living in Cumbria and Lancashire. Over five days you'll take part in workshops exploring socially engaged practice. The workshops will be tailored to you and led by an experienced neurodivergent artist. You'll come up with an idea for a socially engaged project of your own, and get support, mentoring and seed funding to work on your idea after the residency. The project is designed by and for neurodivergent artists - our aim is to create a space where you'll feel comfortable, supported and able to thrive.

What you get: A 5-day residency at BarrowFull, Barrow-in-Furness. A £500 fee; Travel expenses & accommodation for you & a PA/support worker, if needed; £300 seed funding towards your own project; 4 mentoring sessions to help you with your project; An opportunity to try out your project with local audiences (if you want to!); Support to take the next steps.

Eligibility: The project is open to women aged 18-25 who identify as neurodivergent, and live in Cumbria or Lancashire. We welcome all women, including cis and trans women. We welcome artists working in any artform, who are interested in making socially engaged work. You don't need to have any previous professional experience, but we're looking for artists who want to start or develop a creative career.
